DOUG SPONDELLO, AICP
Community Development Director
Doug Spondello joined the City of Moorpark in 2019 and currently serves as the Community Development Director. In this capacity, he oversees a $4.68M departmental budget and provides strategic oversight for six functional divisions; Administration, Building & Safety, Code Compliance, Housing, Planning, and Economic Development. With over 15 years of experience in municipal government, Mr. Spondello has played a pivotal role in facilitating numerous development projects and fostering strategic partnerships with companies such as Procter and Gamble, Amazon, Haas Automation, Volkswagen/Bugatti, Northrop Grumman, Mission Produce, Deardorff Family Farms, Comstock Homes, Shea Properties, The Daly Group, and others. He received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Urban Studies from Loyola Marymount University, and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from California State University, Northridge. Born and raised in Ventura County, Mr. Spondello is passionate about ensuring the long-term economic viability of our region, finding innovative solutions, and facilitating opportunities within the City of Moorpark.
Since joining in 2022, John Bandek has been a driving force behind initiatives to support Moorpark's business growth and prosperity. Mr. Bandek oversees Moorpark's Community Development Administration and Economic Development Divisions, serving as the "go-to" person at City Hall for all business-related matters. His accomplishments include organizing the annual State of the City Event and Mayor's Business Appreciation Luncheon, and successfully attracting prominent businesses such as Lucky Strike, DrinkPAK, DT Professional Services, and The Habit Grill, along with various retail and dining options to Moorpark. He has been instrumental in launching DiscoverMoorpark.com and @DiscoverMoorpark social media accounts to showcase the city's unique offerings. With a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management from Pepperdine University and ongoing pursuit of an MBA from UCLA's Anderson School of Business, Mr. Bandek brings a diverse perspective to his role. His dedication, innovative strategies, and commitment to excellence make him a valuable asset to Moorpark, shaping a prosperous future for the local business ecosystem.
