About

Hi, my name is Louie Valdez or you can call me Lou Valdez. I’m nearly 42 years old and have probably lived 50% of my life already so consider this my midlife review (but not to be considered a “crisis”) as they say when you hit mid-age. I’m married with 2.5 kids including family dog Mia and an adopted California desert tortoise, Travis. I have a sustainable career and am blessed with good people in my life. I enjoy people and helping them in what they are passionate about. My wife is an angel on earth. My kids are loving and fun to be with and full of zeal. My non immediate family is scattered in mind and place and I’ll give you more background as you read my blog. Just what the hell is a blog anyway? They tell me it’s the way to spread the word like you spread butter on a roll at Mastros. To me it seems like an overpriced diary but its only dollars we should spend now before inflation hits. I know one thing :  I’m passionate about where I live: Moorpark, CA

So why keep it a secret in this town named after an apricot tree that was once a quick stop on the railroads zig zagging the country. Its more than a palindrome or “kraproom” as teenagers like to say. Its Mayberry, NC and Melrose Avenue all in one!  The mix of people range from young “punks” to people that consider lawn bowling an activity. Green and yellow are the school colors. In most years our schools are the example of strong academia and are the envy of the eastern part of the U.S. so we’ll examine what is going on there too. We are known nationally as the Acadeca champions (short for Academic Decathalon winner for 4 years) We shortened It because we were tired of spelling out a-c-a-d-e-m-i-c-d-e-c-a-t-h-a-l-o-n-w-i-n-n-n-e-r-s year after year after year.

I hope you find this a useful yet insightful site to learn more about Moorpark. I’ll bring you the people that I have learned to have fun with and respect.  People make this town great and lay the groundwork for generations. Yes there’s only about five people that fit that description and we also have some “knuckleheads” that should have kept driving to the next town but unfortunately you can’t pick your neighbors.

Moorpark is a jewel among many cities in southern California and Ventura County but be careful who you tell unless you bring them to my blog. So the journey begins soon.

Until then see you on Tierra Rejada and LA avenue with a stop on High street and the sight of Pepper Trees lined along the road.

Moorpark Lou
